This reminds me of an amusing thing which happened when I was trapping on the Colorado River. There was a Yuma village near our camp, and one night some of the trappers went into the village and brought back with them, what they thought was some kind of bread. Without noticing it very particularly, they commenced eating, but it was not long before they discovered, that if they were eating bread, it was a different kind from any they had ever tasted before. They made an examination of the stuff then, and found that what they had supposed were biscuits, were small cakes made of red ants, crushed together and dried in the sun.
